Thorhild Museum
History Revisted
Have a question about an ancestor, the history of your land, or the legacy of your family from the Thorhild area?
History books were published about the area in 1985.
The two volumes are available through the University of Calgary at these links:
Building and Working Together Volume 2 (from family names of CAPPELLE to ZOLKEWSKI)
A General Index and Family Index is located in Volume 2 starting on page 1020
Come in and start a conversation with us! Every summer we hire a student from the community to host tours through the museum and provide the following services:

Search the Archives
We can search through the books, photographs, school yearbooks, maps and donated items looking for surnames that may connect to your family and allow you to browse them and take photos of what you need, as well as answer questions!

Identify Photographs
Every week we release photos in our archives that have gone unidentified and reach out to the community in the hopes that they can help give names to the faces of our county's past. We also have a board within the museum that hosts even more unidentified figures than get posted.

Give Museum Tours
We also offer free tours of the museum to any visitors. The museum boasts many books that can be interacted with, and our summer student is always open to answering questions. Donations are appreciated, but not mandatory!
